WORLD BADMINTON CHAMPIONSHIP 2011 LONDON

(Men's Singles)
Singapore's Derek Wong, world-ranked 49, who had scored a comfortable 21-17, 21-14 victory over former champion Taufik Hidayat of Indonesia, the number 4 seed in the round of 32(second round), lost to Denmark's Hans-Kristian Vittinghus 16-21, 10-21 in round 3.

A silver medallist in the 2003 World Championships in Birmingham, which is still the best achievement by a Malaysian men's singles player, Wong Choong Hann who has beated the Taiwanese Hsieh Yu Hsing 21-7, 21-9 in the first round, finished his 7th world championship game by losing to Thailand's Boonsak Ponsana 13-21, 18-21 in the round of 32.

World number 1 Malaysia's Lee Chong Wei was in supremely brilliant form in a 21-11, 21-5 victory over Park Sung-Hwan, the 9th-seeded Korean and entering quarter final.

Olympic champion China's Lin Dan worked hard to win 21-16, 21-13 against Lee Hyun-Il, the 12th seeded Korean, entering quarter final.


(Men's Doubles)
Malaysia's men's doubles shuttlers Mohd Zakry Abdul Latif & Hoon Thien How 24-26, 19-21 defeated to 10th seeds Fang Chieh-min & Lee Sheng-mu of Taiwan in the second round.

The 4th seeds Koo Kien Keat & Tan Boon Heong were taken to the distance by China’s lowest ranked pair of Liu Xiaolong-Qui Zihan before prevailing 21-6, 20-22, 21-15.

China's 1st seed Fu Haifeng & Cai Yun played hard 21-17, 15-21, 21-14 in the round 3 to win Japanese shuttlers Kawamae Naoki & Sato Shoji, the 12th seed and later chinese doubles will meet Denmark's Mads Conrad Petersen & Jonas Rasmussen, the 16th seed in the quarter final.
The Danish shuttlers have previously won the 8th seed Alvent Yulianto Chandra & Hendra Aprida Gunawan of Indonesia 22-20, 13-21, 21-18 in third round.


(Women's Doubles)
Malaysia's women’s doubles shuttlers Wong Pei Tty & Chin Eei Hui’s second round defeated to 4th seeds Mizuki Fujii & Reika Kakiiwa of Japan 16-21, 24-22, 20-22 in 1-hour-and-28-minute games.

Another Malaysia's women's doubles the Ng sisters--Hui Lin & Hui Ern went down 10-21, 11-21 to Japan’s Matsutomo Misaki & Ayaka Takahashi in the second round.


(Mixed Doubles)
Malaysia's mixed doubles specia­lists Chan Peng Soon & Goh Liu Ying who have stun­n­ed England's pairs Nathan Robert­son & Jenny Wallwork 21-19, 21-19 in a 42-minute second round clash lost to Chayut Triyachart & Yao Lei of Singapore in straight sets 19-21, 14-21 in 43 minutes.

Malaysia’s second mixed doubles pair of Ong Jian Guo & Sabrina Chong with 11-21, 15-21 lost to 16th seeds V. Diju & Jwala Gutta of India.
